Love Heart Biscuits- Valentine's Day


Hello guys! Hope you guys are having an amazing Valentines Day, with your loved ones. So... as my first post said one of the topics I will be posting will be cooking or baking, so if you are interested please keep reading it. This recipe will be for Valentines Day but you can also adapt this recipe to make your own themed biscuits. Also, I want to give special thanks to Zoe (my friend), which made this post possible for you guys. Now let's get started!!

Dough Ingredients:

170 g butter, softened
200 g white sugar
2 eggs
3 ml vanilla extract
310 g all-purpose flour
5 g baking powder
3 g salt

Method:

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on a piece of waxed-paper.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven.
Leave it to cool completely before decorating.

Icing Ingredients:

500g icing sugar
2 egg whites
2 tsp lemon juice
Food colouring of choice

Method:

Sieve the icing sugar.
Whisk the egg whites in a large bowl until they become frothy.
Add the icing sugar to the egg whites, a spoonful at a time, and fold in.
Add the lemon juice and stir.
Beat the icing until it is very stiff and white and stands up in peaks.
Add the food colouring.
Spread on the cookies and then pipe on a heart and the message of your choice.
